Deep in the fog-choked hills of Elgin, IL lies Halloway Timbers, an old logging camp abandoned after workers vanished and bodies were found torn apart beside the saw pit. The foreman’s final warning spoke of something in the woods that wore a man’s face until the moon rose.

Years later, the land became Camp Big Timber, but the forest never forgot. Scouts whisper about the “third whistle” that echoes after lights-out. Those who answer it swear they hear something circling just beyond the firelight.

One counselor saw the figure standing at the edge of the clearing: too tall, eyes shining like glass, its body twisting into something beastlike under the moon. When the camp whistle blew, it slipped silently back into the trees. The counselor left before dawn, saying, “They built that camp on something that wasn’t finished.”

To this day, the rules at Camp Big Timber are strict: no one leaves their cabin after the final whistle. No exceptions. And if you hear a third whistle?

You pretend you didn’t.
